Building a Safer Nevada: Advancing Wildfire Resilience Through Local Collaboration and Shared Standards

The Nevada Fire Chiefs Association (NFCA), in partnership with the Western Fire Chiefs Association (WFCA), proudly supports the Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) Mitigation Alignment Project, an initiative uniting fire service leaders, insurance experts, and stakeholders statewide. As wildfire threats intensify in Nevada’s WUI areas, this collaborative effort seeks to identify flexible, community-informed strategies rooted in evidence-based practices like the Insurance Institute for Building and Home Safety (IBHS) Wildfire Prepared Home program. By promoting voluntary alignment around practical mitigation standards while preserving local authority, the project lays the groundwork for scalable, effective wildfire risk reduction tailored to each community’s unique needs.
